4. Directions for the promotion of smoking restriction measures
The Ministry of Health and Welfare is promoting the following smoking restriction measures, either on its own or by actively addressing related ministries, agencies, and organizations.
(1) Action directed to parties promoting smoking restriction
[1] Making the contents of this report known widely.
[2] Appropriately providing information on the situation of smoking restriction and progressive exemplary cases.
[3] Requesting active use of the names of non-smoking time and zone, and, particularly in areas where smoking is prohibited in principle, the names of smoking time, smoking zone, etc.
[4] Requesting smoking restriction as a premise for new facility construction, additions, and reconstruction.
(2) Education directed to visitors of public places
[1] Using various means of public information to raise consciousness about smoking restriction.
[2] Promoting objective investigation and research concerning the health effects of passive smoking, and providing information on the latest findings.
(3) Development and widespread use of air cleaning equipment
[1] Actively supporting the technological development of air cleaning equipment.
[2] Actively supporting the wide use of air cleaning equipment.
(4) Determination and evaluation of executed measures
[1] Conducting consciousness surveys on smoking restriction in public places, and making efforts to determine the needs of visitors.
[2] Surveying the actual situation of smoking restriction in public places, determining the situation of promotion of smoking restriction measures and individual cases, and conducting evaluation.
